Andrew Fairlie Scholarship 2020
The ultimate scholarship that any aspiring chef could receive, the Andrew Fairlie Scholarship will be awarded annually to a male and female chef in light of Andrew’s unwavering commitment to diversity in the kitchen. Both winners will receive a variety of once-in-a-lifetime culinary experiences.
Who can apply
Open to any chef currently working in Scotland, aged 21 and over with a competent level of chef skills, and a desire to learn. The judges will be looking for a male and female chef with similar values, both personally and professionally, that Andrew had, and his restaurant continues to display.
We're delighted to have the same chefs back to judge the final skills test, some of the most talented chefs in the UK, with an array of Michelin Stars between them: Tom Kerridge, Sat Bains, Restaurant Andrew Fairlie's Head Chef Stephen McLaughlin, Lorna McNee, National Chef of Scotland Gary Maclean, and Andrew's mentor Keith Podmore.
How to Apply
The first stage is a paper application which will explore your thoughts on how to run a successful kitchen, and why you’d like to win this scholarship, allowing you to show your personality, your passion for the industry, and your hopes for your future career as a chef.
Six chefs will be chosen to take part in the Grand Final which is a skills test, with one male and one female chef then announced as winners! The Final will take place at The Gleneagles Hotel in February 2021.
