Young Master Chef of the Year
Each year the association runs a competition for young chefs under the age of 23 on the day of the competition. The Chefs are required to provide a three-course menu using nominated products which form part of the skills test. These recipes are paper judged and the selected finalists go forward to the cook off.
Young Pastry Chef of the Year – The David Lyell Scholarship
Every year the MCGB manages a national, patisserie competition for young and aspiring chefs, 23 or under. The entrants are asked to provide recipes and costings for classic and specified pastry dishes, using designated ingredients. After the paper judging, semi-finalists are selected to compete, from where 6 finalist will be chosen to compete in the finals later in the year at MK College’s Claire Clark Academy.
The Master Chefs of Great Britain Challenge
A bi-annual MCGB event held during the HRC Show’s Salon Culinaire at London Excel (ex Hotelympia). Designed to challenge the competitors to use seasonal, British, sustainable ingredients, produce and wine.
